Happy Thoughts Monday- Monsters University Poster

It's time for Happy Thoughts Monday!  Today I decided to share a poster that makes me smile because I'm excited for the movie! This is a picture of the one that was in the Disneyland esplanade not far from Disneyland's entrance.

It's the Monsters University poster!

I've been excited for this movie ever since I went to the presentation about the characters of Monsters University at the D23 Expo in 2011.  It's neat to see the stuff they talked about at the presentation in print and in the movie trailer!

My favorite part of the poster though are the books that Mike Wazowski is standing on!  Here they are up close:

I really like Monsters Inc. and the movie reminds me of one of my sisters because it is one of her favorite movies!  It's a great movie and I really hope this prequel is just as good!

Are you looking forward to Monsters University?  Did you know there's a special website for it where you can learn about the school?  I love how it looks like an actual university website!  Make sure you check it out!

I hope this brightened your Monday!  Have a great week!

Once Upon A Time's Tron References

(pic my sister sent to me once while she was watching the show!)

I haven’t written about the Once Upon a Time series before but the last few episodes have been a lot of fun to watch and I couldn't resist!  I watch it every week with my husband and one of my sisters watches it too!  We usually text back and forth about it after we've seen a new episode.  Do we have any Once Upon a Time fans out there? I don’t plan to give any big spoilers but did you catch the references to Tron in this week’s episode?  Awesomeness!

Once Upon a Time was created by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz who were also the creators of Lost and writers of Tron: Legacy.  There have been references to Tron before like when you spot Henry playing the game Space Paranoids but this week’s episode’s references were a lot less subtle!

In the episode we have an 80s flashback where we meet the Flynns- a father and son who had recently lost his mother.  Sound familiar?  When we find out the father is named Kurt Flynn I found myself repeating the name out loud. Sounds a lot like Kevin Flynn!  The character also seemed a lot like Kevin Flynn from Tron in how he lost his wife and was close to his son!  I could go on with the similarities in the two characters but I don’t want to spoil the episode for anyone who hasn't watched it yet.  But let’s just say as a huge Tron fan I really enjoyed the similarities!

Then later on in the episode we see this bench with a very interesting looking ad on it!

It was pretty exciting to see an ENCOM ad during the part of the episode that takes place in the 80s advertising Kevin Flynn’s digital revolution!

My hubby and I are big Tron fans so of course we really enjoyed this episode!  The actual story in the episode was good too!

If you don’t watch Once Upon a Time it's not too late to start!  The first season is on Netflix so if you are looking for something new to watch I recommend it!

Also if you’re already a big fan like me then check out this Tumblr page for some fun Once Upon a Time photo goodness!

Happy Thoughts Monday- Stormtrooper's Best Friend

It’s the start of another week and it’s time for me to introduce a new weekly feature I have been wanting to begin here on So Disney! It's Happy Thoughts Monday!

I’ve seen similar features on other blogs and I thought it’d be fun to do too!  Originally I planned for it to be Happy Thoughts Thursday but what day do we really need happy thoughts the most?  Thursdays are closer to the weekend and Mondays can be rough so Monday wins!  Hurray!

What is “Happy Thoughts Monday”?  It’s a day where I will post a photo or several photos that make me smile in hopes that it will make you smile too and brighten your day!

So without further ado, here’s this week’s Happy Thoughts photo.

Stormtrooper's best friend

I saw a Stormtrooper greeting a guide dog at Disneyland a few months ago and was able to snap this photo of it.  I really like it and often go back to look at it because I love random moments like this at Disney parks!

I hope you enjoyed today's happy thought!

"Think of the happiest things
It's the same as having wings..."

I hope you all have a fabulous week!

Dapper Day Spring 2013

Before I dive into writing about some of the neat stuff I got to check out at Disney World, I wanted to write about my Dapper Day experience at Disneyland the weekend after I got back!  Dapper Day is a day where many Disneyland guests go to Disneyland dressed in their finest!  Back when Disneyland first opened people would dress more formally to go to the park instead of the shorts and sneakers you see today.  You can see it in older photos and in the original concept art of Disneyland.  Dapper Day is a nod to that and it really feels like you stepped back in time because there are so many folks who dress up!  It’s not organized by Disney but all the Cast  Members seem aware of it and it’s a lot of fun.  As you might remember I went to the spring event last year and had a great time!  I had a wonderful time this year as well!

Unfortunately I was not able to check out any of the Dapper Day scheduled events but there were so many people dressed up that I was able to still see many guests in incredible outfits!  There were a lot of  people dressed up when I went last year but I think there may have been more this time!  It was fun to see a lot  of people had planned their outfits based on Disney characters and there were even some men dressed as Walt Disney!

My favorite part of the day was getting to see my very dapper friends!  I met two of them at Carthay Circle’s lounge where we had drinks perfect for us fashionable ladies!

Two of my furry friends were there too and they also were dressed in their finest!

I ran into more of my Disney bride pals on my way out who also looked great in their dapper attire!

After meeting up with my friends I had to head out but I had gotten there so early I was still able to do several rides that morning.  It was definitely really windy when I got there though!  I almost didn’t dress up because for me wind + a dress = too much work for this jeans and a t-shirt gal!  I toughed it out though and was glad I did!

Here I am by the Jungle Cruise.  My purple coat came in handy because it was so cold!

I also sported my Dapper Dans inspired nail art!  You can read more about it at Pixie Dust Nails.

I didn’t run into the Dapper Dans like I did last year but my husband and I did get to see some other characters!

I also got to visit Merida from Brave!  My favorite photo of the day was one of the pictures I got with her.  Here we are in our most ladylike pose.

How could you not love this princess?

Dapper Day is so much fun at the parks!  If you ever have a chance, you should go!  Be sure to check out it’s webpage so that you can stay informed on any upcoming events!

Back from Disney World- Photos!

I’m back from my trip to Disney World and am eager to share the highlights from it!  My husband and I had a great time!  We ate at some fun restaurants and wandered around New Fantasyland.  We also dealt with some very cold weather which seemed unusual to us for Orlando and some rain which is not so unusual.  This trip also had a couple firsts for us which I’m looking forward to writing about. There’s so much I’m not sure what to write about first!   I hope to get everything in order this weekend including getting some posts lined up for the week and taking care of my suitcase which may or may not still be sitting on the living room floor!

For now here is a preview of some photos from my trip!
