Disney Nerds Merchandise

There is some new merchandise at the Disneyland Resort that I saw at several of the stores for both adults and children. It has Mickey and other Disney characters in glasses and most of the items say things like "Nerds Rock!" and "I love nerds."  It's not great that it implies the characters having glasses and braces makes them nerds but I must admit the merchandise is actually really cute.  I think I might eventually get the women's t-shirt since I'm a proud Disney nerd!  Here are some pictures!

For adults, there are t-shirts, boxers, purses, and wallets.

For younger girls, there are shirts and sweaters.

2 Rides to Close After Sunday

Toy Story Mania is set to close after this Sunday for some routine work and will be closed for more than a month.  I was a bit surprised to hear this because it is a very popular ride and I wouldn't think they'd want to close it that long (especially after Toy Story 3 recently did so well in the theaters). I rarely ever see it with less than a 30 minute wait.  I'm not sure what kind of work they're doing on the ride, just that there will be no new games or features added. (I wish they were adding Fastpass machines for it like they have at Disney World. I don't get to ride this much because of the long wait.)

The other ride that will be closing is no surprise because it is that time of year where Disneyland begins getting ready for Halloween!  The Haunted Mansion will be closing so it can be converted into the Nightmare Before Christmas version of the ride, Haunted Mansion Holiday. It should open on Sept. 17th.

Note:  Star Tours is also closed right now as it is transformed into the new Star Tours: The Adventures Continue set to open in 2011.

Pictures from my Phone!

Wow!  It's been a long week for me so I haven't been able to do a post in a while.  Today, though, I finally uploaded some pictures from my cell phone to my laptop.  I don't upload my phone pictures very often so they're from the last few months. Here are a few of them.

I really like this picture.  It's a panoramic of the Rivers of America at Disneyland.

This picture is from a day that I decided to take my San Antonio Spurs Coyote to Disneyland!  (Go Spurs!) This is him in line for the Matterhorn:

This was from the All Star Game parade at Disneyland:

Last week I took this picture of Tigger outside Pooh Corner.  He was sitting by a sign that said Pooh's Thotful (Thoughtful) Spot.  So this is Tigger in his thinking pose:

I have some fun posts planned including one on my visit to Mickey's of Glendale so stay tuned!

Waterfalls at Disneyland Hotel- Video

August 16th was the last day for the waterfalls at the Disneyland Hotel.  I stopped by there for one last visit a few days ago.  Here are some pictures and a video I took while I was there.

Star Tours New Queue Video

Star Tours at Disneyland closed on July 27th so that work on the new Star Tours ride could begin.  The Star Tours ride at Disney World will be closing on September 8th.  The ride is going to be updated and in 3D.

Today on the Disney Parks Blog, they posted the video that will be shown in the queue area of the ride.  Take a look!

Here's the link to the Disney Parks post on the upcoming Star Tours atrraction.

Simply Mad About the Mouse

'Simply Mad About the Mouse,' was a video released in the early 90s that featured popular singers such as Billy Joel, Gipsy Kings, Bobby McFerrin, and Harry Connick, Jr. singing some classic Disney songs. My sisters and I used to watch it a lot on Disney Channel.
This is the version of the song "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf" done by LL Cool J.

Disney sometimes releases CDs now that feature different singers singing Disney classics but they are all Disney Channel teen stars.  I think it'd be cool if they did one that featured other singers as well.  Who would you want to see sing a Disney classic?

Re-Micks

For today, I thought I would share some videos of something I saw on Disney Channel called Re-Micks.  Basically they take clips from old Mickey cartoons and edit them to match popular songs.  The first time I saw one, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not.  I really love the old Disney cartoons and am always wishing that they would show them on Disney Channel (including the old Disney Afternoon shows).  Sometimes I will catch an old Mickey cartoon on the Disney Channel but will then be disappointed when I realize it has been cut and shortened.  I wish they would show the whole cartoon but am glad that it's at least starting to come back.  In addition, I've been seeing children's t-shirts at Disneyland stores with some of these cartoons on them.

Anyway, here are some of those Re-Micks videos I promised. I apologize in advance if you get any of these songs stuck in your head. (I've had the Hannah Montana song stuck in my head for days!)  Enjoy!

Note:  For some reason the videos I found of these were from Disney Channel Germany so the intro text is in German.

Goodbye, Lost Bar

The Lost Bar, located at the Disneyland Hotel, closed it's doors for the last time this past Sunday along with the Video Arcade, Croc's Bits N Bites, and the Jungle Cruise themed remote boats.
The Lost Bar has been my favorite bar and spot in SoCal for several years. It was partially outside so you could enjoy the gorgeous California weather. Being by the Disneyland Hotel and near Disneyland, it always made me feel like I was on vacation even in the middle of a busy work week. I would go here to celebrate happy occasions, on my annual pass blackout days, or when I needed cheering up after a bad day. I've been going there since they had their old menu which featured the Lost Margarita. Disney is going to be rebuilding a bar in its place that is Jungle Cruise themed. The new bar sounds like it's going to be cool but I will miss Lost Bar as well as its surroundings. On my last visit to the bar, our waitress was one of those on the staff who had been working there for years so she knew exactly what I was talking about when I asked if I could get one last Lost Margarita. It was a perfect way to say goodbye.
Here are some pictures from Lost Bar and the Jungle Cruise remote boats next to it.

Good bye, Lost Bar. Thanks for the all the good times.
