Silhouette Studio at Disneyland

Have you ever noticed the Silhouette Studio on Main Street at Disneyland?  I recently wrote about it in  So Disney! Wedding, my blog where I write about my wedding planning adventures, but thought it was something I should share here too!
Everytime Jared and I go to Disneyland we walk by the Silhouette Studio and had always wanted to go and check it out.  We decided that after we received our wedding planning packet from Disney we would celebrate by visiting the Silhouette Studio.

At the studio, they cut out your silhouette and then if you like you can have them put your silhouette next to your friends or family's silhouettes or next to your favorite Disney character.

We went to the studio first thing when we got to Disneyland because we figured we would have to come back for our silhouettes later that day.  The cast member in the store had us take turns sitting in a chair facing the window.  When I sat in the chair she pulled out a piece of black paper and her scissors and in about a minute she had cut out my silhouette.  She was done with both our silhouettes in less than five minutes!  She didn't trace our shadows or anything.  She simply looked at our profile and cut out our silhouettes.  It was really quite amazing. Here is what our finished silhouettes looked like:

Pretty cool, don't you think?  I love that it shows us wearing our glasses. The price to get the silhouettes was very affordable and it's a great souvenir from Disneyland!  I think it's especially nice for families and couples and could also be a great gift for parents or grandparents.

Also, don't forget tomorrow is the last day to comment and try to win the Band Leader Mickey Pook-A-Looz.  If you haven't already entered make sure you do before 9pm tomorrow for your chance to win the website's first giveaway!

Save $5 on Tron!- Disney Movie Rewards

Are you a member of Disney Movie Rewards? If you aren't and love Disney movies I recommend it!  It doesn't cost anything and is a way for you to earn points from the Disney movies you buy.  Recently Jared noticed that they sometimes have $5 dollar manufacturer coupons on the newest Disney movies.  You just sign in and then print the coupon (you'll need to download coupon printing software first).  I used a coupon last week and saved $5 on Tangled and yesterday I used another coupon to save $5 on Tron.  The coupon only seems to be available on the site the week the movie comes out (Tangled isn't there anymore).
After you sign up, you can use the site to enter any Movie Reward Codes you get on Disney DVDs and Blu-Rays.  Jared and I share his account so we can combine our points. We buy several Disney movies between the two of us so we have managed to get quite a few points and use them to get some cool stuff.  Also you can earn extra points whenever they have a survey available.
In addition to getting things with your points sometimes they even give away free items. All you have to do is pay for shipping.  I got aWall-E poster for about $3 this way.  Around your birthday they usually send you an email giving you a choice of a few Disney movies as a gift.  This is how we got the DVD of Sky High, Blu-Ray of The Rookie, and Blu-Ray of The Game Plan.  All for free (plus shipping which is usually only $3-$5)!
I highly recommend joining the Disney Movie Rewards program.  We like using it because it's a fun way to get something back from the Disney movies we buy.

Check out some of the stuff we've gotten for free!

Ariel's Undersea Adventure

Since the giveaway question is about Disney California Adventure (DCA), I decided I would do some posts on DCA this week.  Right now, there is a lot of construction going on over there as they renovate the park.  One of the additions to it that will be opening in the Summer is the new Little Mermaid ride, Ariel's Undersea Adventure.  Here are some pictures I took at the Blue Sky Cellar of a few displays about the upcoming ride.

While at California Adventure today I was impressed by how great the building for the ride looks!  It's taking the space that used to be a theater where they showed the film Golden Dreams.  The building has been undergoing a lot of construction the past few months and now it's looking really close to being done.  It looks amazing!

I'm really looking forward to this ride! I think it'll be a great addition to California Adventure!
